Medal awarded to Lee Holmberg of Abbotsford
Lee Holmberg was honoured as an "unsung hero" Friday night with a Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal, for her very significant role in the philanthropy of the Holmberg family over the years.
She was also lauded for her commitment to this community through her involvement in sports with her children and personal connection to Ledgeview Golf and Country Club. Most recently, the Holmbergs donated $500,000 (as part of $1,000,000 commitment) to the Abbotsford Hospice Society's Holmberg House – a hospice for adults 19 years and over as well as a $100,000 donation to the BC Cancer Foundation.
The presentation was made at a private function for family and friends by Michael de Jong, B.C. Minister of Finance, and MLA for Abbotsford West.
