Russell Mayhew arrested for third time in five months

An Abbotsford man whom police describe as "gang-involved" has been arrested for the third time in five months.

Russell Jordan Mayhew, 26, was arrested in the underground parking lot of his residence in the 2200 block of McKenzie Road on Wednesday at about 11:30 p.m.

The Abbotsford Police's drug enforcement unit, with the assistance of the patrol division and Municipal Integrated Emergency Response Team, took Mayhew into custody and executed a warrant to search his suite.

Const. Ian MacDonald said a small amount of cocaine and less than $1,000 cash were seized, and a 28-year-old woman was located in the residence.

Mayhew has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and three counts of breaching his court-ordered bail conditions.

According to the provincial court database, Mayhew was also charged in November with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, along with 22-year-old James Alexander Breckenridge.

Mayhew was released from prison on $500 bail.

In August, he was charged with uttering threats and fear of injury by a another person.

His criminal record includes charges and convictions for driving while prohibited, resisting a police officer, break and enter, assault and possession of a controlled substance.

In March 2010, Mayhew was the subject of an Abbotsford News' video (posted above) when police went to a home in Clayburn Village to arrest him on a warrant after he had failed to appear for scheduled court appearances.

At first, Mayhew refused to surrender, but he emerged from the front door about 40 minutes later and was taken into custody.
