Close to 30 members of the Rotary Club of Abbotsford hit the streets on Friday night to lend a hand to Operation Red Nose.

It was expected to be a busy night and a total of 66 people volunteered their time to help get people home safely.

The program involves volunteers driving members of the public and their vehicles home during the busy holiday party season.

The program is hosted locally by PacificSport Fraser Valley, and people using the service are encouraged to make a donation.

Operation Red Nose began Nov. 30 in Abbotsford and Mission, and continues tonight, Dec. 8, 14, 15, 21, 22 and 31 from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Drivers can request service by calling 1-877-604-NOSE (6673).

Some of the Rotary volunteers included Bruce Beck, Don Beer, Len Goerke, Shirley Wilson, Allison Longshore, Deputy Chief Rick Lucy, Ken Funk, Balbir Kambo, Doris Woodman-McMillan, Sara Lawson, Tim Bergen, Suzanne Greening, Mark Duyns, Dave Lordon, Pat Tonn, Donna Thoen, Mark Dana, John McFaul, Dan Denia, Tracy Penner, Amy Badesha, Monika Narang and Jason Blumenfeld.

There were also several "celebrity" volunteers on hand, including Mayor Bruce Banman.
