Abbotsford will honour those who have served their country, and those who continue to serve, during a Remembrance Day ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 11.

The event begins at 10:30 a.m. at the cenotaph at Thunderbird Memorial Square (off Veterans Way). Members of the Royal Canadian Legion and members of local youth cadet corps are among those who will participate in the ceremony, which includes a parade and laying of the wreaths.

Remembrance Day is observed on Nov. 11 to recall the end of the First World War in 1918. Hostilities formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

Two minutes of silence are observed at 11 a.m.
