Alleged sex offender McCreary arrested in Moncton
A man wanted by Abbotsord Police for numerous alleged sex offences has been located in the Maritimes.
On Thursday morning the Codiac Regional RCMP arrested Stephen Edgar McCreary in Moncton, New Brunswick.
McCreary, 61, is a long-time resident of the Fraser Valley. He is wanted by Abbotsford Police in relation to numerous serious charges that include 13 counts of sexual offences, four counts of aggravated assault and one count of forcible confinement.
McCreary was located at a residence in Moncton, and was taken into custody without incident.
"The Abbotsford Police Department would like to thank the Codiac Regional RCMP for their diligence and assistance," said Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald in a press release.
Earlier this week, MacDonald noted police were getting close to McCreary with the help of social networking, and the picture of his face was shared thousands of times online.
"We also wish to thank the numerous citizens across the country, and the many media outlets that assisted this investigation by sharing the story and the image of the wanted man."
Arrangements are being made for McCreary’s return to Abbotsford.
