BC Assessment takes pictures of Abbotsford homes
Digital cameras mounted inside a marked van will be on the residential streets of Abbotsford as BC Assessment updates photos used for property assessment purposes.
The residential photo initiative will take street-front digital photos of approximately 24,500 single-family homes throughout Abbotsford. It was scheduled to start Sept. 28.
This program has already been successfully used in Nanaimo, the District and City of North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Surrey, White Rock, Squamish, and Maple Ridge.
BC Assessment says it will photograph only the public street front of a home, including the civic (street) address number. The authority will not retain any personal information, such as images of people, signage or vehicle licence plates.
Visit the B.C. Assessment YouTube channel to view a demonstration of the photo update initiative. Visit www.bcassessment.ca for further information about BC Assessment.
