Jeffrey Goddard denied bail
Convicted online child predator Jeffrey Goddard was denied bail Thursday in Abbotsford provincial court on his latest set of charges.
Goddard will now remain in prison while he awaits either a trial or, if he pleads guilty, sentencing.
The 22-year-old was charged on Aug. 10 with four counts of breaching his probation, after he allegedly posed on Facebook as a landscaping company supervisor known as "Ryan Martin Stewart" and made contact with youths.
Goddard was prohibited from having contact with anyone under the age of 18, using any electronic devices that could access the Internet, and establishing or maintaining any social networking sites.
These conditions were placed on him following his statutory release from prison in February after having served two-thirds of a 20-month sentence.
Goddard had pleaded guilty to charges related to his contacting eight youths – ages 12 to 16 – over Facebook and on the phone, while he posed as a police officer, a teenage girl and a TV producer. The charges covered a period from January to October 2010.
Goddard is next due in Abbotsford provincial court on Aug. 30 for an arraignment hearing.
