4-H plays important role at Agrifair

4-H is one of Canada’s longest-running youth organizations, dating back to 1913.

The programs offered through 4-H help provide opportunities for youth between ages 13-21 to learn new skills and develop qualities that create community leaders.

The four “H”s in 4-H stand for a pledge taken by the members to use their Head, Heart, Hands and Health to better the club, community and country, all while promoting fun.

This weekend 4-H'ers are sharing their knowledge of agriculture and love for animals at the Abbotsford Agrifair August 2-6.

4-H shows include dairy showmanship, horse showmanship, dog shows, and goat shows among many other fun and informative demonstrations.

With their stalls decorated in the "Where Pigs Fly," theme, 4-H'ers groom their cattle, converse with visitors and prep for one of their many upcoming events.

When you visit the Abbotsford Agrifair this weekend, make sure to swing by the 4-H barn to meet the farmers of our future.

Gates will open at 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Friday through Monday August 6. Admission ranges from $5-$10. There will be a free pancake breakfast on Sunday, beginning at 8 a.m. For more information, including event listings and directions visit agrifair.ca
