Pooped pooch saved by fire crews
Stepping away from the stereotypical cat-in-a-tree rescue, the Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service saved a Rottweiler from a ravine on Thursday.
At about 10 a.m. firefighters responded to a public assistance call at 34481 Laburnum Ave., where they arrived to find the big dog trapped in a gully.
The 11-year-old dog named Taz was found under a log, about 20 meters down the slope, and was suffering from exhaustion and hypothermia.
“The Abbotsford Fire Technical Team was able to successfully retrieve the dog by utilizing ropes, pulleys and a basket stretcher,” indicated a press release from the fire hall. “The rescue was completed in approximately one hour and the dog was fortunate to have survived the ordeal.”
