Police warn of sex offender being released from prison

The Abbotsford Police Department is warning the public about the release from prison of a man with an extensive criminal history that includes sexual assault and multiple robberies.

Const. Ian MacDonald said Anton Ellis Foulds, 35, will be released from an out-of-province prison today (Thursday) after having served his full sentence. He was expected to be moving to Abbotsford, but there are concerns he could visit other Lower Mainland communities or Vancouver Island.

MacDonald said Foulds has more than 25 convictions – all in B.C. – and his last one was in Victoria in 2003 for robbery and the "heinous sexual assault"  of a woman.

According to the provincial court database, Foulds was convicted of fraud in Abbotsford in 2001. That same year, he was sentenced to four years in prison for four counts of robbery in Victoria, but was released on parole and committed the sexual assault in 2002.

Conditions of his release include that he: not possess, own or carry any weapons; not consume or possess alcohol or illicit drugs; and obey a daily curfew of 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

He is described as 5' 6" and 175 pounds, with a shaved head and brown eyes. Anyone who witnesses Foulds violating any of his conditions is asked to notify police in their area (604-859-5225 in Abbotsford).
