Kinder Morgan refills oil tank in Abbotsford

Representatives from Kinder Morgan have indicated that they will be refilling a storage tank today (Wednesday) at their Sumas Terminal in Abbotsford.

Neighbours in the Auguston neighourhood might smell periodic odours, according to the reps. The odours are expected to dissipate quickly, but are dependent on the weather.

Odour complaints can be reported at 1-888-876-6711.

The tank farm, located in the 4100 block of Upper Sumas Mountain Road, was the site of a 110,000-litre oil spill on Jan. 24. Neighbours in the Auguston neighbourhood reported smelling a strong odour that left many suffering headaches and nausea.

The spill was contained to the Kinder Morgan property. The cause is still under investigation.
