Stabbing at prison in Abbotsford
The victim of a stabbing at Matsqui Institution in Abbotsford on Wednesday night was treated in hospital and is in good condition.
Acting assistant warden Scott Verwold said the man will be transferred today (Thursday) to the regional treatment centre to continue his recovery.
He said the stabbing occurred during an altercation between two inmates just before 8:30 p.m. Abbotsford Police were notified, and the institution is investigating, Verwold added.
The prison is now in lockdown mode while a search of the jail is conducted.
