Eight thefts from vehicles in 24 hours

Eight vehicles had valuables stolen from them during a 24-hour period in Abbotsford, and police are reminding drivers to be more cautious.

The thefts started at about 7 a.m. Monday, and most of the vehicles involved were unlocked, said Const. Ian MacDonald.

The cars were parked in various locations around the city, including parks and driveways. The thefts included wallets, purses and electronics.

MacDonald said, in one case, a man left his keys in his unlocked vehicle. A thief left the car behind, but took the keys and used them to later enter the home and steal items.

MacDonald reminded drivers to use an anti-theft device, lock their vehicle  even when parking for a brief time, and take their valuables with them.
