Missing senior's body found in car on Sumas Mountain

A Chilliwack senior, missing since Oct. 3, has been found dead in his vehicle at the bottom of a steep embankment in Abbotsford.

The body of Cyril Williams, 78, was found Wednesday afternoon on Sumas Mountain Road by a tow truck driver who was attending a flipped gravel truck at the same location.

Investigators have determined that Williams' vehicle went off the road to the right and down a 10 foot embankment.

"Although this is not the outcome anyone was hoping for, Cyril's family now has some closure and can begin to move forward," said RCMP Const. Tracy Wolbeck.

Angie Gregorowich, who along with her husband Bryan, owns the property where Williams was found, said her family went camping for the long weekend, and wasn't there when the accident happened. The vehicle went off the road in a wooded area where it could not be seen. Their five-acre lot on Sumas Mountain is about half bush.

"It's really shocking and sad," she said. "Maybe if I was there, I would have heard something, or seen something."

The Abbotsford Police Department has conduct of the investigation.
