Ludhiana delegation visits Abbotsford
A delegation from the city of Ludhiana, Punjab is visiting Abbotsford for three days. Abbotsford Mayor George Peary told council on Monday that the delegation, led by the city's mayor, will be in town from Sept. 21-24. The group will tour the city and visit both industrial, agricultural and residential areas. The trip wraps up on Friday night with a dinner at the Abbotsford Banquet Centre. The visit is in response to Abbotsford's trip to India in February of 2010. Ludhiana is one of several places that local city representatives visited while trying to establish a new sister city. Ludhiana has an estimated population of 1.7 million and is a major industrial center of northern India.
