Charges stayed against two men accused of making meth in Abbotsford barn
Charges have been stayed against two men accused of making meth in Abbotsford last year.
Francisco Aguilar Ochoa, 39, a1nd Oscar Guerreo Perez, 38, had each been charged with production of a controlled substance, break and enter, and two counts of transporting ephedrine, a stimulant used in the production of methamphetamine.
The charges were stayed Monday in B.C. Supreme Court in Chilliwack.
Abbotsford Police were called to a large rural property in the 1800 to 1900 block of Ross Road in February 2010 after the caretaker reported seeing two men in an outbuilding, using lights and doing something with pills and a blender.
Police arrived to find two men, who spoke little English, making a powder out of the pills, later found to be ephedrine. Other ingredients were found on site, but the men had not yet developed a full-blown lab, police said at the time.
Further investigation revealed the men were not Canadians and appeared to have illegally entered the country. They were placed in custody with immigration authorities.
Ochoa and Perez had been scheduled to go to trial this week.
