Harper not yet confirmed for Sikh Temple celebrations in Abbotsford
It has not yet been officially confirmed that Prime Minister Stephen Harper will attend 100th anniversary celebrations of the Gur Sikh Temple in Abbotsford, despite reports that state otherwise.
Satwinder Bains, director of the Centre for Indo-Canadian Studies at University of the Fraser Valley, said on Thursday that organizers are still awaiting final approval from Harper's office.
Premier Christy Clark and Abbotsford Mayor George Peary have confirmed their attendance.
The temple, located at 33089 South Fraser Way, hosts its celebrations from Aug. 26-28. A special supplement with all the details will be published in the Tuesday, Aug. 23 edition of the Abbotsford News.
