Two from Abbotsford among 37 rioters to turn themselves in to police
Two Abbotsford residents are among 37 people who have turned themselves in to police for their participation in the Stanley Cup riot on June 15, according to the Vancouver Police Department (VPD).
Their names have not been released, as they have not yet been charged. The VPD's integrated riot investigation team is currently preparing charges against the 37 – 30 males and seven females – but the process is "lengthy and complex," according to a VPD press release.
At least one Abbotsford riot participant has been identified on Facebook. He is shown kicking in the glass door of a business and helping to flip a car, but it is not known if he is one of the individuals who came forward to police.
The 37 who turned themselves in are mainly from the Lower Mainland, but also include individuals from Victoria, Tofino, Comox and West Bank.
An additional 111 people are under investigation for criminal acts related to the riot. Hundreds more have been identified.
Some of the alleged crimes include: assault, mischief, break and enter, theft, robbery, arson, weapons possession, and possession of stolen property.
