Public hearing to discuss additional slot machines

A public hearing will be held later this summer to discuss the addition of slot machines to Chances Abbotsford.

The decision to hold a public hearing  was made at the city council meeting on Monday afternoon. The meeting is tentatively slated for July 11.

However, if the postal strike is ongoing, it will likely be Aug. 8, said Mayor Peary.

Located at 30835 Peardonville Rd., Chances wants to expand the number of slot machines to the maximum number permitted by the BC Lottery Corporation.

Currently the facility has 125 machines, but has indicated it needs 180 to meet public demand.

A liquor primary licence has also been put forward, however it is being treated as a separate application and will have its own public hearing.
