Sentenced in bear-spray incident
An Abbotsford man who used bear spray to get away after being nabbed for using a fraudulent gift card last June was sentenced last Friday to 15 days in jail and two years’ probation.
Brian Michael Pullin, 30, pleaded guilty to assault with a weapon, fraud and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose on June 2, 2010. He was sentenced in Abbotsford provincial court to five days for each of the charges.
He was also found guilty of theft under $5,000, committed on June 14, but was not given jail time on that offence.
A warrant was issued for Pullin’s arrest last June after he tried to use a fraudulent gift card at the Real Canadian Superstore gas bar on Gladwin Road. He was nabbed outside by store staff. As four employees were escorting him across the parking lot, he pulled out a can of bear spray and turned it on them before escaping.
He was arrested June 25 at a home on Peardonville Road.
