Weapons, ammunition seized from Abbotsford home
Police seized a rifle, a handgun and ammunition from a residence in the 3400 block of Juniper Crescent on Thursday afternoon
The police patrol division, along with the Municipal Integrated Emergency Response Team (MIERT) were called in to execute a warrant on the residence. Because guns and other weapons were suspected to be on site, the MIERT armoured rescue vehicle was utilized.
"The warrant was criminal code in nature and specified that one of the items we were looking for was firearms," said Abbotsford police spokesperson Const. Ian MacDonald.
"That's why the armoured vehicle was used,"
The risk analysis also took into account the background of the suspects living in the house and the fact that it is located in a populated, residential area.
Two males and two females were found in the home, but only two were arrested – a 47-year-old male and 62-year-old female. Both are residents in the home
They were taken into custody without incident.
"Everything went smoothly, the way we like it," said MacDonald.
Police officers searched the house and quickly found the hand gun and ammunition. The rifle was located under a bed.
No charges have yet been filed. The two suspects were released on Friday morning with a promise to appear. They will face a judge in the next three weeks.
