Robbery suspect arrested; linked to Abbotsford and Chilliwack incidents
A man believed to be responsible for an armed robbery earlier this month at the Ramada Plaza and Conference Centre in Abbotsford is now in custody.
Const. Ian MacDonald said Abbotsford Police have recommended that Crown counsel in another jurisdiction lay robbery charges. The suspect cannot be named until that time.
MacDonald said the culprit is believed to be linked to two robberies in Chilliwack, as well as several others throughout the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland.
Chilliwack RCMP received reports of armed robberies on the evening of Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Parkwood Motor Lodge on Young Street and the Popkum Esso on Yale Road East.
The following night at about 11:20 p.m., Abbotsford Police received reports of an armed robbery at the Ramada Plaza on North Parallel Road.
The suspect description was the same in all three incidents, including that the man was driving a dark-red station wagon.
MacDonald said another detachment is now handling the case, although he wouldn't identify which one.
