Abbotsford Police file report to Crown on Kelowna officer

Abbotsford Police have completed their report to Crown counsel regarding the alleged use of excessive force involving a Kelowna RCMP officer.

The report includes the recommendation that Const. Geoff Mantler be charged with

assault causing bodily harm from an incident on Jan. 7 involving Buddy Tavares. A news reporter filmed Tavares being kicked in the head during an arrest.

Crown counsel will now review the report, and it can often take weeks or months for charges to be approved.
