Abbotsford Police investigate fatal collision involving Surrey cop

Abbotsford Police are investigating a fatal collision in Surrey involving an 18-year-old girl who was struck by a police car.

The teen was attempting to cross King George Highway near 98 Avenue at about 9:40 p.m. last night (Monday) when she was hit by the RCMP car. She was not using a crosswalk at the time.

She succumbed to her injuries a short time later in hospital.

The police officer involved has about two years' experience.

Abbotsford Police have supplied a team of investigators and collision reconstructionists. Any witnesses to the incident are asked to call 604-859-5225.
