Abbotsford Police Department recommends assault charge against Kelowna officer

The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) has recommended a charge of assault causing bodily harm against a Kelowna RCMP officer.

The actions of Const. Geoff Mantler were investigated by the APD after a reporter filmed the arrest of Buddy Tavares, who was seen being kicked in the head.

The APD's investigation included interviewing more than 40 witnesses. The charge is now waiting approval by Crown counsel.
