For Abbotsford restaurateur Manjinder Nahal, local is the only way to do business, whether it’s the Rossdown Farms chicken he’s serving his customers or the company printing his Presto BBQ menus.
“We are 100 per cent local,” Nahal emphasizes.
The previous Nando’s chicken franchisee and Presto Cucina owner has today brought together the best of both worlds. The delicious result is Abbotsford’s Presto BBQ.
Every staff member lives in Abbotsford and Presto’s ingredients are sourced locally. Guests can sip a favourite vintage from Mt. Lehman Winery, crafted from grapes grown right here in Abbotsford, or a cold beer from Dead Frog or Steam Works breweries.
“I would estimate that more than 90 cents from every dollar spent in our restaurant stays in Abbotsford,” he says. “For us, there’s no other way to do business.
Hand-crafted in-house
Taking that philosophy into the kitchen, it’s no surprise that Presto BBQ also crafts all their own sauces and dressings in-house – to rave reviews. (Yes, you can get many of them to take home to your own kitchen, too.)
If you haven’t visited before, what’s a must-try?
“You have to try the chicken,” Nahal says. From skewers and wings to a whole chicken, your selection is cooked in a special oven that retains all the flavour while letting the fat drain away, then flame-grilled with one of their delicious sauces – choose your favourite from a wide range of flavours and heat levels.
