A sinkhole shut down access to Tolmie Road in Abbotsford on June 11.

Road crews are working to try and restore access to a rural Abbotsford road after a sinkhole suddenly opened up on Wednesday morning.

The sinkhole is located in the 5400-block of Tolmie Road, near No. 2 Road in east Abbotsford.

The Abbotsford Police Department reported that the incident has shut down access to the road until the sinkhole can be patched up, with drivers told to find alternative routes.

This is the second sinkhole to shut down a B.C. road within the past week, with the Coquihalla Highway having to undergo emergency repairs after a sinkhole suddenly opened up on June 6.
