Laidlaw fire is out, Bear Creek fire north of Harrison being held: BCWS

Wildfire activity in Agassiz-Harrison has seen improvement overnight.

The Laidlaw area wildfire is officially out as of Friday morning, while the 8.2-hectare Bear Creek wildfire is still being held.

The Bear Creek wildfire is the largest in the area this year. It was reported on Tuesday (May 14) after fire from burning vehicle along Harrison Lake forest service road was discovered to have spread into the nearby brush.

The B.C. Wildfire Service stated about 14 firefighters are working on the fire along with response officers. Two helicopters dropped water onto the fire.
