Abbotsford Regional Hospital (ARH) has received a new ventilator for the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) from the Sandra Schmirler Foundation.

“We want all babies born too soon, too small or too sick to have the chance to grow up and be champions,” said Darren McEwen, executive director of the Sandra Schmirler Foundation. “By continuing to recognize and celebrate Sandra Schmirler’s love of family, we are grateful that we can make a difference in Abbotsford and in hospitals all across Canada."

The Sandra Schmirler Foundation raises funds to purchase life-saving equipment for premature and critically ill babies in Canada. In many cases premature babies require the support of a ventilator to help them receive oxygen to the lungs. Since 2001, the foundation has raised and given over $8 million for equipment provided to over 100 hospitals.
