Robert Bateman Secondary presents Disney’s Camp Rock: The Musical starting Thursday, Feb. 1 at the Abbotsford Arts Centre (2329 Crescent Way).

The show, written by Robert L. Freedman and Faye Greenberg, is the sixth production from Timberwolf Musical Theatre, with previous performances including Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast and last year’s Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat.

This year’s musical is based on the movies Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, starring Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers.

There is a new camp at the lake, and the two camps quickly become rivals. Who will win? Camp Rock or Camp Star?

Disney’s Camp Rock: The Musical begins with Mitchie and her friends arriving at Camp Rock, ready to spend another summer together playing music.

Their plans are shaken by the arrival of Camp Star, the flashy new camp across the lake. Mitchie steps up to lead the Camp Rockers as they find a way to save their beloved camp.

The role of Mitchie is played by Caylee Watrin and Chiara Pirritano.

Other featured roles are played by Jose Klautau Toffoli as Shane Grey, Ethan Adachi as Nate Grey, Owen Adachi as Jason Grey, Holly Regnier and Rylea Clark as Tess, and Bruno Requena Streb as Luke.

Robert Bateman students have worked on every aspect of the play, including the backstage crew, sound and lighting, the pit band, and cast.

The production features 15 songs, which will be played live by the school’s band.

Lorilee Kidd choreographed the dances and directs the actors, while Doug Pritchard directs the band.

The show runs Thursday, Feb. 1 and Friday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m., as well as on Feb. 3 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $10 and are available at the school, online at rbsscamprock.bpt.me or at the door before each performance.
