Finalists announced for Arty Awards in Abbotsford

Recipients to be named Sept. 30 at The Reach Gallery

The Abbotsford Arts Council has announced the finalists for the 2017 Arty Awards that take place Sept. 30.

Nominations were accepted throughout May and June in eight categories to represent the wide range of talents in the community.

The finalists are:

• Arts Advocate – Alexandra Blair, Coalmont, Connie Hackett, Katie Stobbart and Lando Klassen;

• Emerging Artist – Cassidy Luteijn, Chantelle Fawcett, Jenna Cook, Mayday Club Youth Choir and Meshaal Alzeer;

• Lifestyle Award – Dianna Lewis, Jil Sonia McDonald, and Johannes and Kristina van Vloten;

• Literary Artist – Frances McGuckin, Harman Kaur, Lisa Caroglanian Dorazio, Michelle Elrick and Robyn Roste;

• Media Artist – Adam Wormald and Brittany Cardinal;

• Performing Arts – Chelsea Amber, Cliff Prang, Paul Williamson, Shashi Lata Virk and Sunee Dhaliwal;

• Visual Arts – Jeff Stackhouse, Linda Klippenstein, Raphael Silver and Sharon Huget; and

• Youth Achievement – Bradin Cummings and Caylee Watrin.

Honourable mentions go to the Abbotsford Arts Academy, Andrew Booth,

Blessed, Brander Raven McDonald, Felonius Chino, Jacob Harada, Kristin Witko, Sarah Wills, Sharla Sauder, Simon Bridgefoot, and Tamilee Wills.

The recipients will be announced at the Arty Awards on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 7:30 p.m. at The Reach Gallery Museum.
