Train artist holds local show
Steam train artist Max Jacquiard will be at the Abbotsford Art Gallery at 2-33286 South Fraser Way on July 21 from 1-3 p.m. for a one-man art show and book signing.
The show will feature his newest painting, Squamish Barge Slip, and a selection of his other steam train works. The artist will also attend, and sign copies of his book Train Master: The Railway Art of Max Jacquiard.
The book features 100 reproductions of his paintings, and includes text and more images from Barrie Sandford, who Jacquiard calls “B.C.’s most revered railway historian.”
“Max Jacquiard has become one of the most respected artists in Canada in his specialized field of portraying the huffing and puffing monsters of an earlier age,” stated Hong Zhu of the Abbotsford Art Gallery in a press release. “His powerful acrylic images on canvas can conjure up visions of the strength and romance of the steam trains of his childhood days back in Manitoba.”
The event will have a free draw for a framed artwork by Jacquiard. For more information call 604-853-8828.
