Three Abbotsford students win gold medals at Skills Canada

National competition was held May 31 to June 3 in Winnipeg

Jo-Raul Farley and Baneet Braich of Abbotsford Senior Secondary won a gold medal for video production at the recent Skills Canada competition.

Three Abbotsford students won gold medals at the Skills Canada competition, which ran May 31 to June 3 in Winnipeg.

The team of Baneet Braich and Jo-Raul Farley won for video production, while Michaela Sapielak won for architectural technology and design.

All three are students of Abbotsford Senior Secondary.

Another Abbotsford student, Dallas Stevenson of W. J. Mouat Secondary, claimed a bronze medal in electrical installations.

The students qualified for the national event after winning gold medals at the BC Skills competition April 5 at Tradex in Abbotsford.

Other Abbotsford students who won gold at the provincials and competed at the nationals were Cryer Baily and Hayden Fast of Robert Bateman Secondary in 3D computer animation.

The skills program began in early March with the regional event in Chilliwack to determine who would advance to the provincials.
