Students rehearse Yale Secondary's musical 'The Boyfriend' at Abbotsford Arts Centre which will run from Feb. 10 to Feb. 16.

Yale Secondary Musical Theatre is present "The Boy Friend," a twenties romp with the great and the good in the historic Beach city of Nice France.

It was the musical that propelled Julie Andrews (of "Sound of Music" fame) to the top in the role of Polly and it is a "Topper" that everyone should see.

Yale Secondary is currently in it's 23rd year of productions and boasts such fine talent as the Vancouver Opera's own Aaron Nicholson (Pirate King in Pirates of Penzance) as alumni.

"The Boy Friend" was the musical that propelled Julie Andrews, of "Sound of Music" fame, to the top in the role of Polly and it is a "Topper" that everyone should see.

A talented cast of grade 9-12 students portrays these bright young things as they play in the sunny interim between the first World War and the stock market crash.

The story starts in Madame Dubonnet's finishing school for girls where a young girl Polly is desperate to get a date for the carnival ball but does not want a golddigger who likes her simply for her money. She falls in love with a delivery boy who she lies to and says she is a secretary at the school. Unfortunately her father the Millionaire shows up without warning and her life becomes complicated. Her young man is not all he seems either and through a wonderful series of follies they dance and sing their way to the comedy climax.

Does Polly get her man and will the other girls meet suitable husbands in this city of dreams? Come and find out!

Performances will be on Feb 10 at 2:30pm and Feb. 14, 15 and 16 at 7:30pm. Tickets can be purchased at the school by calling 604-853-0778
