An Abbotsford teen who has been donating her birthday money every year to Abbotsford Regional Hospital (ARH) recently contributed just over $1,400 – her largest amount yet.

Mia Gill, who celebrated her 16th birthday this year, has been donating the funds to the hospital’s pediatric unit every year since 2013.

Her parents instilled in her at an early age the importance of giving back to the community. Last year, she began sharing the experience with her cousin, Gavin Nahal, to pass on that message to him.

“We are forever grateful to Mia and her family for their generosity and for fostering positive change in our community,” said Liz Harris, executive director of the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation.

The foundation raises funds for vital equipment and programs funded or endorsed by Fraser Health in Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack, Hope, Agassiz and Harrison Hot Springs.
