Social work conference at UFV

A conference called “Reaching Out Together: Connections Through Social Work” takes place at University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford from April 28 to May 1.

The event has more than 80 presenters and features workshops, themed networking sessions and presentations in the field of social work.

The keynote speakers will be Dr. Gwen Point, a faculty member of the UFV school of social work and human services, and Keli Anderson, who co-founded the FORCE Society for Kids’ Mental Health.

The conference is broken down into networking sessions on April 28, keynote presenters and sessions on April 29 and 30, and field trips on May 1.

Participants will learn about indigenous and international practice, anti-oppressive and feminist practice, and sustainable community development in a variety of practice areas such as human trafficking, child welfare, at-risk youth and mental health.
