The following is a list of just some of the activities taking place in Abbotsford over the following week


Heritage Alliance Church holds an art show and concert on Saturday, April 16 featuring the Fraser Valley Quartet. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. A free-will offering will be taken for two returning missionary families.


The Baha’i community holds a multi-faith devotional, discussion and dessert on Saturday, April 16 at 7 p.m. at the Abbotsford Social Activity Association drop-in centre, 2631 Cyril St. The topic is “The Ink of Light: Exploring the Realm of Spirit in Verse and Image.” Presenters are poet and educator Leanne Boschmann and visual artist and educator Edward Epp.


The Walk for Greta takes place Saturday, April 16 at Mill Lake Park (Bevan Avenue entrance) to raise funds and awareness for six-year-old Greta Loewen, who is battling a rare form of bone cancer. Registration begins at 9 a.m., with the walk starting at 10 a.m. The event also includes entertainment, face painting, postcard making and a colouring contest. The Spring Market at The Ramada takes place Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17 at the Ramada Plaza and Conference Centre, 36035 North Parallel Rd. Vendors will feature a selection of items, such as home decor, jewelry, soaps, clothing, baby items and more. Admission is free. The Fraser Valley Table Top Day is held Saturday, April 16 from 2 to 9 p.m. at Cascade Community Church, 35190 DeLair Rd. Everyone is invited to bring their favourite table-top game, and be eligible to win prizes. Admission is free.


The Valley Women’s Network meets Tuesday, April 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Ballroom, 33780 King Rd. Cost is $22 for members and $25 for non-members. Reservations are requested by emailing


Abbotsford Learning Plus presents its free annual spring tea on Tuesday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at Abbotsford Recreation Centre, 2499 McMillan Rd. Everyone is welcome.


The Fraser Valley Watermedia Society meets Thursday, April 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. at House of Fine Arts, 2485 West Railway St. Artist Cheryl Shaw will do a demo on painting with acrylic on foil. Positive Living Fraser Valley holds Boom Boom 2016, an adults-only dinner and dance featuring music by Kenny Shaw and Brian Temple, on Saturday, April 23 from 6 p.m. to midnight. Ashley Martens Photography is holding a “Love Greta” fundraiser on Saturday, April 23. On that day, families and couples are invited to purchase a photo session for a minimum $150 contribution. They will receive 10 digital images and a print release. All proceeds go to the family of six-year-old Greta Loewen, who is battling a rare form of bone cancer. The Mood Disorders Association support group in Abbotsford meets the first and third Thursdays of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. at Abbotsford Community Services (2420 Montrose Ave.) It is open to those who have mood disorders such as depression, manic depression, anxiety and panic attacks.
