ScienceTalks Abbotsford presents series about research and technology

Dr. Wenona Hall is the speaker on Sept. 7 in the first session in the latest ScienceTalks Abbotsford series.

A series of online and informal talks designed to engage the public in learning about recent research in science begins Sept. 7.

ScienceTalks Abbotsford: A Virtual Science Cafe features talks given by researchers and scientists from University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), providing an opportunity to explore the latest ideas in science, research and technology.

Each talk is followed by a question-and-answer session.

Each session begins at 7:30 p.m. Registration is free at sciencetalks.ca and is required to receive the Zoom video-conferencing link.

The sessions take place:

• Sept. 7 – Dr. Wenona Hall, chair of Indigenous studies curriculum committee

• Oct. 5 – Dr. Anastasia Anderson of the Centre for Philosophy for Children

• Nov. 2 – Dr. Edward Akuffo, Centre for Global Development

• Dec. 7 – Dr. Irwin Cohen, Centre for Public Safety and Criminal Justice Research

This is the third series in ScienceTalks Abbotsford.

The project received initial financial assistance from the City of Abbotsford, and the Abbotsford Community Foundation through the Responsive Neighbourhood Small Grants Fund, a project that encourages neighbourhoods to create positive social connections and build community strength.
