The Environmental Mind Grind Competition takes place on Feb. 27 at Sevenoaks Shopping Centre.

The sixth annual Environmental Mind Grind competition takes place on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at Sevenoaks Shopping Centre.

During the event, high school teams from Abbotsford and Mission compete against each other in an academic trivia-based competition with a focus on environmental awareness.

Students compete in groups of three and have been preparing by reviewing material in the contest study guide.

A first prize of $1,500 goes towards an environmental initiative at the winning team’s school.

The public is encouraged to come witness the competition for themselves and cheer on the hard-working students from schools including W. J. Mouat, Mission Senior Secondary and Rick Hansen Secondary.

The event runs from 4 to 7 p.m. in the courtyard area down from the food court.

The event is organized by the Abbotsford Mission Recycling Program, a program of Abbotsford Community Services.

The program provides recycling services in partnership with the District of Mission and City of Abbotsford.

They also offer an extensive public awareness program, which includes school and community education.
