New World Technologies in Abbotsford has donated $10,000 to the Red Cross in support of those impacted by the B.C. wildfires.

An Abbotsford company is challenging other businesses to meet or beat their donation to the Canadian Red Cross to help those affected by the B.C. wildfires.

New World Technologies Inc. (RAD Torque Systems), located on Progressive Way in Abbotsford, donated $10,000 on July 19. Many of the company’s employees have family and friends in the affected areas.

Last year, the company donated the funds to enable a seven-year-old Abbotsford girl, Greta Loewen, to receive immune-boosting medical treatment in Germany.

Greta had been diagnosed two years previously with a rare form of bone cancer. Her cancer was in remission, but the treatment – not covered by the Medical Services Plan of B.C. – would stimulate her immune system and help her body fight a recurrence.
