The HOME Society, currently located at 31581 South Fraser Way in Abbotsford, is moving locations after 25 years.

The HOME (Healthy Opportunities for Meaningful Experiences) Society in Abbotsford is moving locations after 25 years.

The non-profit organization supports close to 120 individuals with intellectual disabilities, many of whom have concurrent mental health disorders.

The organization is currently located at 31581 South Fraser Way, but now owns a building at 33140 Mill Lake Rd. The South Fraser Way site is now listed for sale.

Dave Lappin, executive director of the HOME Society, said the move is necessary to accommodate the society’s growth over the years.

“The new location will be ‘home’ for the administrative team, provide a space for training caregivers and (include) recreational areas for the activities that are attended by the folks we serve,” he said.

Lappin said they hope to be settled into their new location by mid-2021 and plan to have an open house for invited guests.

In addition to supporting more than 120 individuals through home shares, this Community Living agency has four group homes and three single-person homes.

Lappin said HOME’s goal is to improve the lives of people they serve, with a focus on kindness and gentleness using the tools of “gentle teaching.”

HOME has a volunteer board of directions and is currently looking for new board members. Visit homesociety.com for more information.
