The Fraser Valley Youth Society hosts its fourth annual Walk Away from Homophobia on Thursday, May 19.

It runs from 4 to 7 p.m., leaving from the drop-in centre at 33780 Laurel St.

The event is aimed at creating awareness, building a strong and inclusive community, and eliminating homophobia and heterosexism.

Teams of youth will lead three separate walking routes to Five Corners (South Fraser Way and McCallum Road), where they will  stand and show pride “in all colours of the rainbow,” according to a press release.

There will be a free barbecue for members, volunteers and community supporters.
