Last year was the first time that Cyrus Centre in Abbotsford participated in the Coldest Night of the Year Walk.

Cyrus Centre for youth is participating in the national Coldest Night of the Year walk on Saturday, Feb. 22.

The campaign raises funds for homelessness in Canada and is a non-competitive 2 km, 5 km or 10 km walk/run.

The Abbotsford event takes place at Sevenoaks Alliance Church (2475 Gladwin Rd.), starting at 4 p.m. A hot meal is served after the walk.

Participants form teams of a minimum of three members, with each person raising at least $150 per adult or $75 per youth in pledges. If a participant is unable to raise the minimum amount, they can waive the fundraising requirement for a $25 registration fee.

Last year, more than 200 walkers raised over $30,000 for Cyrus Centre, an Abbotsford resource centre and emergency shelter for at-risk and homeless youth.
