The MSA Museum Society hosts a 1920s-themed community summer social on Saturday, Aug. 13.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Trethewey House Heritage Site (2313 Ware St.).
Food will be available on site by donation throughout the day, starting with a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Abbotsford from 9 to 11 a.m.
Hot dogs, corn and watermelon will be available for lunch between noon and 2 p.m., and a free ice cream social starts at noon.
To end the day, a pasta dinner is available by donation from 5 to 6:30 p.m., sponsored by the Old Spaghetti Factory.
Activities throughout the day include crafts and games in Joey’s Playhouse, community booths, and silent movies shown in the Carriage House.
Old-fashioned games will include Pool Noodle Croquet for kids five and under, jacks and marbles.
There will also be sack races, hoop and stick Races, a tug of war challenge, and “pop-up” tournaments for bocce ball and croquet,
The annual Pioneer Social takes place in the Carriage House at 2 p.m., followed by a Pioneer Tea at 3 p.m. honouring local community pioneers and celebrating “DiversiTEA.”
The day will also feature Artsy Crafts with the summer student team from The Reach Gallery Museum from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Stories on the Porch at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. with Fraser Valley Regional Library staff.
After dinner, head over to the nearby Kariton Gallery for the Envision Financial Concert in the Park Series – presented by the Abbotsford Arts Council – featuring the band Rip Van Finn, starting at 7 p.m.
