Shoppers swapped accessories for a good cause, at the first annual Shopping Party and Accessory Swap at Sevenoaks Shopping Centre on Saturday, May 4.

Tickets to the event were $15, with $10 going to the charity of the purchaser’s choice. Local charities including Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, LIFE Recovery, University of the Fraser Valley and Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation raised over $4,585 for their organizations.

Guests brought five accessory items to swap for five “new to you“ items from other guests.

LIFE Recovery, a Christian Residential Recovery Home benefited greatly from the SWAP Event having received approximately $2,500 in clothing donations as well as all remaining accessory swap donations from the event. These will be sold at LIFE’s Second Chance store, which supports the operations of the Recovery Home and subsidizes the treatment of women who want to lead a life free from addiction.

Three client volunteers attended from the Recovery Home and expressed how they thoroughly enjoyed the experience. These women were able to receive name brand items at the accessory swap tables and it was great to see their enthusiasm and gratitude for their “finds”, said Patricia Watson, Executive Director.
