The Rotary Club of Abbotsford-Matsqui recently completed a couple of projects at the Ravine Park Hatchery for the Abbotsford Ravine Park Salmon Enhancement Society (ARPSES).

The first project was a shelter that was erected on Oct. 15 to protect the hatchery’s emergency generator. Work was completed over three days and was supported by Eco Planet Cleaning Ltd. and Blackwood Building Centre Ltd.

The second project took place Oct. 24 and involved a site and building cleanup, including the area around the pond.

The Abbotsford Ravine Park Salmon Enhancement Society is a volunteer organization that annually returns about 80,000 coho fry to local streams. They also work with schools in the area to involve students in the Salmonid Enhancement Program.

For more information, including opportunities to become involved with ARPSES, send an email to ravinepark.hatchery@gmail.com.
