The Abbotsford Community Foundation has a total of $150,000 available in Agricultural Enhancement grants.

The Abbotsford Community Foundation (ACF) is now accepting applications for the 2018 Agricultural Enhancement grants.

Marcus Janzen, chair of ACF’s Agricultural Enhancement grants committee, said the focus for this round of funding is the revitalization of unused or under-utilized farm land in the Abbotsford Agricultural Land Reserve.

A total of $150,000 is available, with a maximum of $50,000 per applicant.

“We’re looking for projects that will have positive economic, social and or environmental outcomes because of the grant and build capacity in the agriculture industry in Abbotsford,” Janzen said.

“We have a particular interest in projects that benefit any agriculture sector in the Abbotsford area by increasing efficiency, capacity, productivity, profitability or sustainability.”

Applicants are invited to visit abbotsfordcf.org, where they will find a link in the grants section to the guidelines for the program. The process involves both a letter of intent (LOI) and application process.

ACF executive director Wendy Neufeld said those applicants whose LOI is given the green light will be sent the application package.

Last year, ACF granted $130,000 to projects that enhanced the agricultural industry in Abbotsford through the implementation of innovative farming techniques.
