Fraser Valley Heritage Fair winners announced

The winners have now been announced from the Fraser Valley Heritage Fair, which was held April 28 and 29 at University of the Fraser Valley.

Tyler Pretty of Prince Charles elementary in Abbotsford is among three students who have been selected to represent the Fraser Valley at the Provincial Heritage Fair taking place July 4 to 8 at the University of B.C.

His project won the category award for "Occupations" at the regional fair.

The other two students who advanced to the provincial fair are from Langley.

Several Abbotsford students were also recipients of provincial, national, regional and category awards. They were:

– Matt Wiest of Dormick Park Elementary, Canada's History Award;

– May Halle of W.A. Fraser Elementary, Students' Choice;

– Jordan Bateman of Prince Charles, Canada and the World;

– Rikihiro Imai of W.A. Fraser, Immigration and Multiculturalism;

– Tarni Samra of Dormick Park, Provincial Stories; and

– Ryan Pretty of Prince Charles, Community Stories.
