Twenty-six people in Abbotsford received the King Charles III Coronation Medal on Friday (Feb. 7) from MP Ed Fast.
The ceremony was held at Matsqui Centennial Auditorium.
The medal was created to mark the coronation of King Charles III which took place on May 6, 2023.
It is the first Canadian commemorative medal to mark a coronation.
Recipients represent a diverse group of individuals who have made significant contributions to B.C. or attained an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to the province.
Local recipients were: Robert Brandsma, Hedda Cochrane, Dr. Ramona Coelho, Ross Craddock, Andrea Critchley, Dr. Dave Currie, Dr. Dave Demchuk, Capt. Amarjot Singh Dhanjal, Dr. Ray and Carrie Dyck, James Epp, Dr. Sonu Gaind, Anju Gill, Walter Hiller, Trudo Lemmens, Robert and Charlotte Lepp, Bill MacGregor, Anna McWhinney, Dave Miller, John Morrow, Dan and Audrey Neufeld, John Reynolds, James Skinner and Nick Taylor.
