Abbotsford Police take part in Be a Fan Day
Members of the Abbotsford Police Department (APD) were among law enforcement agencies across the province who participated in the Special Olympics’ Be a Fan Day on Thursday, Oct. 25.
The event was dedicated to thanking agencies across the province for their support of the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR), which raises awareness and funds for the Special Olympics.
The LETR has raised approximately $3.4 million for the organization since its inception in 1990. The funds create opportunities for Special Olympics athletes to participate in year-round sport programs and competitions.
In support of Be a Fan Day, members of the APD – as well as other municipal police departments and RCMP detachments – sported red Special Olympics laces in their boots.
“LETR members make their communities more inclusive and inspiring places as they generously give their time to support Special Olympics,” said APD Deputy Chief Rick Lucy, provincial director of the Torch Run.
